Ecotourism destinations in Bintan can be reached by land from various locations on the island. It will take between 30 minutes to 90 minutes by car to arrive at the eco tour starting points. The bellow trip offers an opportunity to get a taste of exploring the nature beauty and the community.
Bintan's ecotourism was developed through Bintan Ecotourism Venture Project (BEVEP), sponsored by DFID, UK, The Local Governemnet of Bintan and PT Bintan Resort Cakrawala. The objective of BEVEP is to strengthen self-helf capabilities of low-income families in Bintan in the ecotourism sector. Through education and on the job training programmes, the project creates a livelihood opportunities with and for the local communities, protecting natural and cultural resources of the island.

Bintan Ecotourism Package 1: Traditional Fishing Tour
You can try fishing the traditional way. Embark on a tour to see and learn how the local fishermen catch fish and crabs in river and the sea. Using traditional methods, the local fishermen utilize the resources of the mangroves lining Bintan's Sungai (River) Sebung Kecil without destroying them.
Enjoy a ride in a sampan (traditional rowing boat) on the calm waters of the Sebong River. Test your skills by trying to throw the jala or casting net. If all efforts fail, your tour guide will ask you to make a bubu (boo-boo). This is traditional fish traps made from bamboo or wire to catch crab and fish.
Local guide will certainly teach some fishing techniques and provide an introduction into flora and fauna richness or coastal ecosystem in Bintan.

Bintan Ecotourism Package 2: Gunung Bintan Trekking Adventure
Discover Bintan's rainforest and see the fantastic views from the 340 meter high summit of moutainBintan. During the 5 hours trek through the rainforest, you can see giant trees over 40-metre tall, home to rare animals such as silver leaf monkeys, sun birds, eagles and kites to name a few.
During the trek you can learn about the practical uses of many plants and discover the local legend of the princess pool. Finally you can cool down with a shower under the waterfall.
The local village guides of Sribintan will take you along a natural trail used by the villagers. After a 2-hour ascent you will reach some of the Bintan last forest giants 40-metres high dipterocarp (two-winged-fruit) rain forests trees.
The climbing mountain continues through thick native palm forest for another hour, before enjoying the sceninc view of bintan Bay and Tanjung Pinang from the top of the mountain at 340 m above th sea level.
Refresh yourself with mountain water and taste local fruit delights, among them the king of fruits, the durian, grown along the lower reaches of moutain Bintan. The 5-6 hours trek ends at the village of Bekapur.

Bintan Ecotourism Package 3: Sribintan Kampong Ecotour
Explore the traditional Indonesian Kampong of Sribintan and get a glipmse into the daily lifestyle of the Malay, Javanese and Boyanese. This rural tourism is a combination between cultural tourism and village tourism. During the 3 hours guided tour you can experience many interesting village activities. See crafts women weave pandan leaves into usable products. Discover how the only local blacksmiths in Bintan Island makes agricultural tools from the scrap metal. Visit a working rubber plantation - try rubber tapping and learn how rubber is made from trees.
You can also find and enjoy many exotic fruits in season. The 2 - 3 hours tour finished off with optional traditional village lunch, accompanied by Indonesian dance performance.
